The Côte de Nuits runs south from just below the ancient and historic city of Dijon, starting at Fixin; and its famous neighbour; Gevrey-Chambertin, and it follows the RN74 road through Morey-St-Denis, Vougeot down to Nuits-St-Georges. The road has rightly been christened the “Route des Grands Crus”.Nuits-St-Georges is the capital of the Côte de Nuits; but unusually does not boast any grand crus. Its vineyards lie in three sectors, with the most elegant wines coming from the sector lying between Vosne-Romanée and the town. The heartland is just south of the town where most of the richest and long lived wines are to be found.
