The Côte de Beaune runs from the small village of Ladoix, through some world famous names such as Corton, Beaune, Pommard, Meursault and Puligny-Montrachet down to Santenay. The town of Beaune was the medieval capital of Burgundy and today is the wine HQ of the area.

The area produces some of the finest white wines of Burgundy, particularly those of Meursault, Puligny-Montrachet and Chassagne-Montrachet. However, we think that a better value white wine can be found in St-Aubin. This wine is a personal favourite of mine.

The reds are full-bodied, very distinctive in flavour and are made to the highest standards. Pommard is reputed to be the best red wine village to the south of Beaune, but I know some producers in Santenay who would question that assertion.

	A rich, powerful and cherry scented red wine that can be kept for many years. I first tasted this wonderful wine in Le Terroir restaurant in the village square and afterwards bought several bottles home. You will also love it.
Santenay Maladiere 1er Cru 1997   75cl £10.95
	Very delicately violet scented wine that will improve with age to give a high class bouquet. It will accompany both red and white meats with dignity.
Santenay Comme 1er Cru 1998   75cl £11.25

Meursault 1997   75cl £13.00
	A fine wine with a pale yellow colour. You will notice an aroma which is a mixture of white flowers and exotic fruits. An ideal wine to accompany hot fish dishes. This wine will keep for many years.
Beaune 1er Cru "Clos du Roi" 1998   75cl £13.50
	An excellent full-bodied red wine that will keep for many years and will continue to improve with age. It will accompany your celebration meals with dignity.
Santenay Clos Rousseau 1er Cru 1998   75cl £14.95
	It is somewhat unusual to find a white wine amongst the reds of Santenay. This one stands on its own, with its rich and exotic aroma and its wonderful taste.
Pommard 1er Cru "Les Platieres" 1998   75cl £18.95
	An excellent wine from this top class village. The wine has a strong body, good colour and an intense bouquet. It is ideal to accompany confits de canard or perhaps some cheese from l'Epoisse.
